Sleeping Beauty: 5 Tips to sleep better at night

As power women, we deserve to have a good night's sleep just like anyone else. This will allow us to shine the next morning and achieve our goals with total focus and energy. Unfortunately, many of us struggle with sleep problems. Various factors may be the cause of this such as stress, anxiety, physical complaints, alcohol consumption and sleep apnea. Innocent habits could also contribute to insomnia or poor sleep. Examples of these habits include eating too much before bedtime or having an intense workout that fills you with adrenaline. At Cabau Lifestyle HQ, we Cabau women – because oh, you’re not the only one suffering from sleep problems – shared all our tips and tricks. And since you are also part of our Cabau family, we are more than happy to share our tips with you. So, bye bye sleeping problems.

No more afternoon naps

For some of us, a power nap does wonders while for others, it causes sleepless nights. If you belong to the latter group, it would perhaps be wise to avoid afternoon naps as they make it more difficult to enter dreamland. So, that innocent power nap is not so innocent anymore. In fact, it could disrupt your normal sleeping pattern.

We people love patterns. Therefore, you should work on a fixed sleeping routine. Try to associate sleep with a dark room and a fixed bedtime. This helps your body to recognizes when it’s time to sleep.

Clear your mind

Do you often feel extremely tired, but nevertheless your thoughts keep you awake? It feels like your thoughts keep floating in your mind. By writing down your thoughts in a journal or our Bloombook, you will be able to release them and clear your mind. Did you know that these thoughts are often related to worries and anxiety that requires a lot of your energy and attention? By writing them down, they’ll become more concrete and manageable. Moreover, you will be able to clear them from your mind and handle them the next day.

Drinking before bedtime

Some drinks such as coffee and other caffeine-containing drinks can keep you awake at night. However, there are drinks that increase the quality of your sleep because of the calming effect of these drinks. Chamomile tea is such a drink. This well-known tea has been used for centuries to improve sleep quality because of its relaxing effect on the body, nerves, and mind.

Milk, soy milk and banana smoothies also contribute to a good night's sleep. This is due to a substance known as tryptophan. Tryptophan serves as a raw material for serotonin and melatonin, the so-called happiness hormones that give you a happy feeling and that could stimulate sleep.

At Cabau Lifestyle, we believe that every woman deserves to have a good night’s sleep. Only then will you be able to make the best out of the next day with full energy to turn dreams into reality. Therefore, we have created the Sleep Well. This drink consists of multiple sleep enhancing ingredients such as tryptophan which we have been telling you about. Other ingredients include magnesium and valerian that contribute to a feeling of relaxation and stress relief. Consume the Sleep Well 30 to 40 minutes before bedtime. You can choose between the cold and fresh forest fruit Sleep Well Drink and the hot green tea cranberry. It is such a joy to drink and the perfect treat to yourself before going to bed. Sleep Well Babe!

Eat yourself to sleep

In addition to sleep enhancing drinks, there are also some sleep-inducing foods. Bananas, almonds, figs, peanut butter oatmeal, (sweet) potatoes are our best friends when it comes to sleeping. When you eat these foods in the evening, you will notice a positive effect on the quality of your sleep and dreams. However, try to avoid eating just before bedtime as your body will be busy digesting the food which could keep you awake and alert.

Relaxation before bed

In the hours before bedtime, try to relax by closing your work laptop, putting your phone away and finishing your workout. Instead of physical exercise and radioactive screens that keep your brain active, focus on relaxation such as listening to music, taking a warm bath, or reading a book. You will fall asleep in no time.

We hope that all our tips will help you to sleep like a princess and dream like a champ. Better sleep leads to bigger dreams which, in turn, open new doors for you. And remember, the things you dream, you can turn into reality. The only thing that is needed is focus, hard work, dedicated and… enough sleep!

We got this, ladies. Let’s sleep to make our dreams come true!
