Best tips for working power mums: balancing motherhood and career

We, power women, do everything we can to keep our balls in the air and to continuously bloom. Especially the power mums among us have the additional challenge of combining this with motherhood. Balance is the magic word here. We give you some guidelines to help you balance between motherhood and career. We got your back, power mums! 

Prepare for the next day

Take a moment to set priorities for the next day. Clean up a little bit so you can start with a clean slate the following day. Prepare your supplies and things needed for tomorrow. A 15-minute session can do wonders. This way, you welcome your night sleep with a carefree feeling so that your batteries are fully charged tomorrow to face the day.

Plan ahead

Make careful plans and think things through carefully. Important here is that you have to let go of the idea that you can do everything. We have the same 24 hours as Beyoncé. So the trick is to focus and prioritise on the things that really make an impact in your life, both personally and professionally. Prioritising works best if you do not do things last minute and act on urgency or impulse but rather plan ahead. A planner is useful in this regards, so that you can plan ahead for several weeks and even months.

Don't forget to take care of yourself

Self-care is very important. Especially when you are doing such a great job with taking care of your family and job, it is easy to lose sight of yourself. Of course, we should prevent this from happening. We can only take care of everything and everyone around us when we are fully in bloom. So, we always need to make sure we set aside at least 15 minutes a day for ourselves. Try to do this tactically, for example, when you have already put your children to bed or your business meeting has ended early. Going for a walk, reading a book and doing a meditation session are all things that can do you a lot of good.

Being present

With so many things we want to rock, both as mother and business power woman, we often slip into autopilot. We do things without really being present. By really doing everything with our heart and being conscious of what we are doing, we will enjoy it more and get more out of it. We are then more satisfied and get a stronger sense of balance and control.

Count your blessings

Related to the above point is that when we do things more consciously, we also better reflect on the milestones achieved in both our motherhood and career. We then also start to celebrate these blessings and milestones more. In times when things feel tough or we have the feeling that we are losing control, these things give us strength and bring us back into balance.
